Fleas

Those nasty, irritating, blood sucking pests!  The poor cat suffers with fleas that bite, hold on, create an itch that can't be scratched away.  In his feline world, fleas are the drain of everyday life.  He is reduced to biting, washing, scratching as a defense against these unwanted occupants of his black fur.

Are fleas to the cat the equivalent of telephone solicitations, unwanted and insistent conversations, or even small and harmless interruptions of my daily flow?  They seem similar.  I am envious that after a period of grooming, he can settle in with his fleas and find peace.

Stillness

Sitting in stillness allows connection to the inner Self. In stillness, another part of me can come forward. An unconscious part can arise as an image and be experienced as a picture or thought. But it can also announce itself as energy coursing through the body. The delicious movement of physical energy is the "MInd of the Sages" or the 'Movement of the Gods" according to the ancient Chinese.

It is the integration of this profusion of energies that gives peace. And it is in peace that we can be still.
